NASET was established to foster excellence in special education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to this specialized field of teaching.
Omega Gamma Chi Was Formed as an Honor Society is formed to identify those within a field of study that have met certain criteria that places them in a prestigious position within this field. Omega Gamma Chi was founded because there was no such honor society solely for special education teachers. This specialized field deserved its own honor society and NASET felt an obligation and a responsibility to create an honor society where special education teachers who have met high standards would be recognized for their achievements.
The mission of the Omega Gamma Chi National Honor Society is to provide meaningful recognition to deserving special education teachers. It is the hope that members of Omega Gamma Chi will become teacher ambassadors for promoting excellence in the field of special education.
