Omega Gamma Chi Honor Society

Omega Gamma Chi Honor Society by NASET

Omega Gamma Chi is a Prestigious Honor Society for Special Education Teachers Founded in Washington, D.C. on March 1, 2012

Omega Gamma Chi is a prestigious national honor society created specifically for special education teachers. It was officially founded on March 1, 2012, in Washington, D.C., under the guidance of the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET).

The society was established to fill a major gap in the academic and professional community. While many fields had long-standing honor societies, there was no organisation dedicated solely to recognising the achievemeytnts and contributions of special education teachers.

Omega Gamma Chi was created to provide that recognition, celebrating high academic standards, professional certification, and dedication to the education of exceptional children.

The Objectives of Omega Gamma Chi

Omega Gamma Chi was founded with a clear purpose. The society’s objectives focus on recognising achievement, building community, and promoting high standards in special education. These are the objectives:

  • Reward each member with academic recognition; this is received just by being inducted
  • Promote fellowship among special educators
  • Encourage and foster high ethical standards
  • Develop a true fraternal spirit and loyalty
  • Advocate excellence in the teaching of exceptional children

Omega Gamma Chi is the only honor society made just for special education teachers. It’s part of NASET, which supports all areas of special education. But this society was started to recognise teachers who have worked hard and achieved a high standard.

It’s not only about good grades or a certificate. Members have shown strong results in their studies, hold the right teaching licence, and care deeply about children with special needs.

Joining Omega Gamma Chi means you’re part of a group of teachers who share the same goals. It gives you recognition, but also a sense of community. For many teachers, it’s something they’re proud to carry through their whole career.
