Our Inaugural Distinguished Special Education Program Awards for Higher Education and Adult Learning Institutions
About The Program
For nearly two decades, NASET has been the trusted authority in recognizing excellence in special education.
Since 2008, our prestigious Schools of Excellence Award has honored K-12 institutions nationwide that demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting students with special needs and their families. We’ve evaluated hundreds of applications, reviewed countless programs, and celebrated the schools that go above and beyond in creating inclusive, supportive educational environments.
Now, we’re expanding our mission to higher education and adult learning institutions.

History of Recognition
This fall, NASET will expand its recognition programs to spotlight institutions that prepare the next generation of special education leaders and support adults transitioning from K–12 with the new Distinguished Special Education Program Awards for Higher Education and Adult Learning Institutions.
This first-of-its-kind recognition program will honor:
- Universities and colleges providing comprehensive training to future special education teachers and leaders
- Adult learning programs serving special education students transitioning from K-12 systems
