Symptom Patterns in Children and Possible Causes

Introduction

As a teacher of children with special needs there will be many times when parents first see symptoms in their children but have no idea what they may actually mean. As a result, parents may assume these symptoms are problems and not realize that they are indicative of more serious issues.

This Parent Teacher Conference Handout will provide parents with symptoms under 8 possible causes of learning problems and explain the possible reasons for those symptoms. What you may want to reinforce with the parents of your students is to notify you as soon as possible when such symptoms appear. In this way you can evaluate the situation and deal with whatever interventions are necessary.
