Introduction
Autism spectrum disorder is best defined as a range of conditions characterized by difficulties with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. Autism isn’t a singular disability, there are many types of autism and they are all caused by different combinations of genetic and environmental factors. Individuals with autism are said to have autism spectrum disorder for the word “spectrum” reflects the wide varieties of challenges and strengths possessed by each person with autism. This issue of NASET’s Autism Spectrum Disorder series was written by Michelle Noviot and will be a review of the literature on the education of children with autism spectrum disorder
